The Story behind Zusie

It is basically based on the Z1 which is a relay computer or the first binary mechanical computer.

Quote:
8-bit data bus and 16-bit address bus
3 x 8-bit accumulator registers, 2 x 12-bit registers (for index, addresses and jumps)
64k solid state memory, holding heap, stack and program
12-bit program counter and 12-bit stack pointer
ALU capable of not, and, or, xor, add, increment, decrement, shift, and indirectly, subtraction
Writable microprogram stored in solid-state device for sequencing
Assembler and Microassembler running in DOS and communicating with Zusie over parallel port.

Z3 I think? A very nice project, very impressive. There are many videos:

There's also an emulator.

That's about the coolest 0.000003 MIPS computer I've ever seen!

The visual part reminds me of the Whopper from the MGM film or IMSAI 8080 Microcomputer System which was a vanity computer but I do think the Zusie has some real CPU power.

I have enjoyed this thread very much. I have been aware of the Zuse computer, but the story of Zusie is terrific. I do, however, have to rate Chuck's whopper as the best comment. :D I have been a long time fan of the "War Games" movie, and always liked the scenes with the moving lights across the WOPR.
