Thanks for sharing. That's quite interesting!. I found this quote from the article quite mind blowing: "I have produced a computer that reasserts 8-bit computing in a 16-bit world and outperforms standard IBM-PC by 20 to 100%". The processor was allegedly a modern version of the Z80, and the operating system was apparently coded entirely in assembly to take full advantage of it. I found that the hd64180 processor is apparently still on sale on some ic stores. So in theory this could still be built today with possibly only minor changes... |
