. It's been a bit quiet here lately - perhaps because it's summertime for most of us - but I was just wondering how often people stop by. Here's the link I use: Anycpu new posts and I do use it every day. While we're here, though, where else do you look for homebrew computers and homebrew CPUs? Do you have many RSS feeds? Perhaps Hackaday? Where else do you post your electronic experiments, if anywhere? Maybe you use twitter, or Hackaday.io? Or your own hand-crafted website? |

I check this forum several times a day. Usually there's nothing new, so it just takes a second. BigEd wrote: . I like many of your interesting posts on computer history, but don't usually have anything to say, so it may look quiet, but the "views" number goes up. I'm on several Yahoo forums, but they're pretty dormant. I'm on:
The fb 6502 Programming group is kind of lame, not because of the people, but just that fb does not allow formatting like you need for code, is not searchable, records can hardly be considered permanent, etc.. I tried a few others like EEWeb, but they took too much time because the range of subjects was much broader than my interests. Quote: Where else do you post your electronic experiments, if anywhere? Maybe you use twitter, or Hackaday.io? Or your own hand-crafted website? Not much of my own projects yet (although that should be coming, time allowing), but I enjoy writing for my website http://wilsonminesco.com/ . I've been trying to finish up another major feature for it [Edit: done], about the size of the 6502 primer, and I have more things lined up for after that. The website is mostly on the 6502 microprocessor, plus a little material on the HP-41 calculator/computer, PIC16 microcontrollers, and even my slide rules I used before calculators. |

BigEd: I check this forum at least daily if not more often. Like Garth, I check primarily to see if you or another forum member has posted an interesting link to a retro computer, or if Rob had posted something on his projects. My time is limited, and I don't pursue too many non-6502 projects that would be suitable for this site rather than 6502.org. |

Daily. I also have a few other forums on my daily list: 6502.org, parallax, vintage-computer, and one or two more. Hackaday I only visit if there's a link to there from this forum or one of the others. I don't use RSS. I don't normally subscribe to topics - my mailbox is too heavily flooded as is. |

. Thanks for the responses and pointers! Let me add my own habits... I visit four forums daily - anycpu, 6502, stardot, and hp museum. I have stacks of RSS feeds but many of them are extremely low volume. I also use Google+ every day - they have a thing called Communities and I'm subscribed to quite a number. One stands out - the Retro Computing community. You'll see posts there about homebrew things and things about historical computers too. I post fairly often. I'm on a few mailling lists, not all of which I actually keep up with. The cbm-hackers and BBC Micro lists are two that I do keep up with. With André Fachat I write a weekly post on a 6502 topic, on gplus, and as Garth notes we also now post a monthly summary of those over on the 6502 forum. (One thing social media gets right is the reinforcement of posting activity - if you post something popular you get to know it's liked. I find that works well, which is why I'm happy to see a sprinkling of encouraging but content-free responses in forums - such responses don't improve the state of human knowledge but they do improve the feedback loop from reader to poster.) Here's a blogroll of sites with a Retro Computing aspect from my RSS feeds: http://www.righto.com/ http://www.pagetable.com/ http://www.uelectronics.info/ http://perspectives.mvdirona.com/ http://programmablehardware.blogspot.com/ http://jmp.no/blog/ http://www.willegal.net/blog https://fgiesen.wordpress.com/ http://blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/ http://jefftranter.blogspot.com/ http://trixter.oldskool.org/ http://www.asciimation.co.nz/bb http://c65gs.blogspot.com/ http://thegaragelab.com/ http://whats.all.this.brouhaha.com/ http://quinndunki.com/blondihacks http://xania.org/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss http://6502micros.blogspot.com/ http://www.mos6502.com/ http://brianbenchoff.wordpress.com/ http://www.vintagecomputing.com/ http://retrocomputingnews.com/ http://uebersquirrel.blogspot.co.uk/ http://randomvariations.com/ |

Depending on how busy I am, I drop in here from once a week to 2-3 times a week. I've been busy lately. There are a lot of threads I need to catch up on. At 6502.org I have an email alert set up to notify me of new posts in the "Forth" category. |
