The unit includes 2GB of on-board storage to run pre-loaded Linux software, 512MB of DDR3 RAM, as well as a USB cable to power the board.

With USB, ethernet, and HDMI interfaces, the board computer can connect to a wide variety of devices such as a mouse, keyboard, or LCD display.

Digital tinkerers are also given lots of flexibility through expansion headers, including 65 digital I/Os, seven analog inputs, and access to a variety of analog and digital peripherals.

I guess my complaint is that I don't see an SD card slot.

Thanks Chuck

In fact it seems it has a micro-SD card: labelled at the bottom of the left edge as seen in your image. See http://circuitco.com/support/index.php? ... escription (via http://beagleboard.org/Products/BeagleBone%20Black)

Cheers

Thank you Ed,

The Beaglebone Black sold out rather quickly and no one seems to have it in stock including ebay.

I found that the Texas Instruments AM335x Sitara MPUs in the Beaglebone Black has a starter kit which isn't too expensive considering it is a $5 dollar ARM chip:

If anyone wants a review of the Beaglebone Black, here it is:

This video shows the Beaglebone Black on what I believe is a Motorola Atrix 4G Lapdock:

Hmm, $200 or even $250 is somewhat more expensive than the Beaglebone Black! However, you do get wifi, dual gigabit ethernet and a 4.3inch touch screen - it's almost an Android tablet, but without the battery or case. A Nexus 7 is about the same price.

As ever, it depends on what you're planning to do: this dev board seems not to have any great number of GPIOs.

Cheers
Ed
