Elsewhere, Johnny Starr asked if anyone could "recommend a good solution for assembling / simulating the Z80." Quote: I've looked around, but have either only found DOS based simulators with little documentation, or expensive commercial applications. I'm just looking for a simple cross assembler and a way to test the code. The only firsthand response was from Tor, who has used z80pack: http://www.autometer.de/unix4fun/z80pack/ (cross platform, open source, windows port can be found. Command line but supports front panel models (even 3D models)) We also had some resource pointers: http://www.z80.info/z80emu.htm http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Programming ... evelopment (Edit: this wiki site also has a forum: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum) |

Another Z80 emulator I've used is 'YAZE', Yet Another Z80 Emulator. The setup I have been using I found via http://www.moria.de/~michael/yaze-cpm3/ The Yaze variant used there is from ftp://ftp.ping.de/pub/misc/emulators/, latest update is from 2004. There is also a Yaze-AG variant which is actively maintained: http://www.mathematik.uni-ulm.de/users/ag/yaze-ag/ (I tested Yaze-AG too, back in 2011 with no problems). -Tor |
