There's a phpbb module for backups which is probably worth installing, then the mysql backup should happen autonomously into the ftp area, and then a simple ftp fetch will get everything needed.
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/auto_backup/

(Obviously only Dajgoro can decide who to give passwords to, and probably after the move. There's also a pending phpbb update.)

Thanks! I'm seeing prices somewhat lower than you indicated - maybe partly the SNAPPY code?
24 months with the 2 addons $154.18
36 months with the 2 addons $182.50
but maybe that's because the addons only last for 12 months...

... so, if money is tight, those addons for $40 per year are certainly optional.

The snappy code lowers the prices, but only for the first purchase, our next payment will have to be a full price.

So what do we do?

Buy what you can with the discount (and if you need to, try another fundraiser at a later date)?

Agreed. I'm sure we'll come up with more money for you later on if necessary :)

For the next year, or the other one we could come up with more money.
Adding more money now would mean waiting another month for paypal to unlock it.

So the question is:
A - Do we take a one year package with the addons?
OR
B - Do we take a two year package with no addons?

Vote A or B.

How nice are the add-ons, and can they be added mid-flight if we decide that we want something right-away? IOW, if we implement option B, are we "locked in" for two full years before changing anything?

Actually that 'secure access', whatever it is, seems cheap at 1.67/month (or is it 1.68). Could be worth it. Daily backup is something I'm sure we can do better ourselves - with that backup module BigEd mentioned, plus access for a couple of us for copying it offsite. I could do Crashplan-type backups with time travel support.

Yes, backup we can manage ourselves, if $20 per year is worth saving. The "Security" thing just looks like a kind of anti-virus for the website - personally I would rely on Google's "This site may harm your computer" for the unlikely event that the site is infected. Again, if $20 per year is worth saving.

Perhaps the trick with fundraising is to be sure to raise enough each time! I remember my very first manager talking about "not going back to the well."

Cheers
Ed

Ah, that backup price is per year.. I read it as per month (as the 'secure' option was labelled as per month). So that's not so much then. Obviously it's still too much if we haven't collected enough money.

I've just revisited the site front page, and I see the funding campaign was for two years - it's probably better to stick to the two year plan, in this case. Fortunately the voting seems to be saying the same thing.
