This is a gallery of my photos on the Commodore MOS Building:

I am looking for a hard drive that has the rest of my photos and I may post more if I find them. I posted pictures of the front. I feel the pictures of the back of the building probably show more of what went on.

I was recently watching (or should I say "mostly listening to as I work") the "Triumph of the Nerds" series on youtube, starting at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFL9IyJ_qHk about the early years of the personal-computer industry and then taking the suggestions for further related videos. Frequenty Bob would say, "In this building behind me..." and in some cases it was totally shut down and empty at the time the movie was made. We always wish we could open the door and step into the past and watch 1980 operations still going on, but since we can't, it's nice that there are at least good documentaries available. The C64 had a very long product life; and even with the same processor and clock speed, it might have been even longer if certain things had been done differently.

This is the post which caused me to make some calls. Some users thought that maybe there were still masks in the building and that there should be no stone left unturned.

The vocal behavior of some Amiga users was a little over the top (crazy) so I don't wish to be involved anymore.

What happened with the thing in the end?
And what happened with the warehouse full of IC thing?

I think it was crazy for someone to think that masks could survive in an unheated part of the building for 20+ years, it was rumors and not based on facts. What I heard from what I read that pre-Commodore equipment was left in the basement. In other words, it wasn't modern but it might be able to get someone somewhere and be used. When I called people, they treated my requests as funny or unusual because it was a crazy request by the community because it is fueled by desperation.

At some time there was a flood in the building (and whatever was left in the building) and the agent's words were "he (the building owner) considered it trash". According to the real estate agent, the building was gutted.

Someone else on Amiga dot org posted pictures of the building which was gutted and I don't know who they were.

The building was scheduled to be demolished. The plans were for it to become a velodrome (for bike racing).

I got an email from the demolition company asking if I wanted to buy anything from the building and I asked them if they had anything with the Commodore name on it.

I look at at Google maps and I couldn't tell but I think it is a field right now which may indicate they didn't get permission to rebuild and my guess is the land is still toxic and is still being remediated. I have not been back there since 2008.
